For wheels, we apply Opti-Coat Ultra Shine (SiC) because it tolerates heat cycles and makes brake dust cleanup much easier. This is a wheels-off service only. We do not remove or reinstall wheels. You can bring new wheels, drop off your current wheels after you remove them, or book a mobile service if the wheels are already off the car and accessible.

Every set is thoroughly prepped before coating. We start with a deep wash and decontamination to remove iron fallout and road tar from the faces and barrels. After that, we wipe the wheels with wax and grease removers so the coating can bond properly. Gloss and clear-coated wheels may receive a light machine polish to refine clarity. Matte and satin wheels are not polished; they are carefully cleaned and prepped to preserve the uniform finish. Once prepped, we coat the entire face, spokes, and inner barrel so you get protection in the areas that collect the most brake dust.

Ceramic coating your wheels pays off in day-to-day maintenance. Brake dust and road film do not stick as hard, so regular washes need lighter agitation and milder cleaners. The coating adds chemical resistance against winter salt, de-icers, and tar, helping reduce staining and pitting over time. Gloss wheels keep that crisp, wet look longer, while matte and satin wheels hold their even appearance. Hydrophobic behavior also makes rinsing and drying faster when you dry properly.

There are a few things to know so expectations are clear. A coating does not repair curb rash, peeling clear coat, or corrosion, and it is not a shield against rock chips or impact. It helps resist light marring during washes but it is not scratch-proof. Wheel coatings are not covered by Opti-Coat’s manufacturer warranty, and wheel-only coatings are not registered with CARFAX. For care after installation, we recommend pH-neutral wheel cleaners for routine washes, an iron remover as needed for heavy brake dust, and always rinsing and drying thoroughly to avoid hard-water spotting.

Wheel Ceramic Coating Process

Wheel & Barrel Cleaning
We start by thoroughly cleaning each wheel—faces, spokes, lug recesses, and inner barrels—using wheel-safe chemicals and dedicated brushes. This removes the heavy dirt, road film, and brake dust so we’re not polishing or coating over contamination.

Chemical Decontamination
Next, we break down embedded contaminants with iron and tar removers. These dissolve stubborn brake dust particles and road tar that normal washing can’t reach, especially inside the barrels and behind the spokes. A careful rinse leaves the surface clean and ready for fine prep.

Mechanical Decon (Gloss Only)
If your wheels are gloss or clear-coated, we may clay the faces and easy-to-reach areas to remove any remaining bonded grit. Matte/satin wheels are not clayed or polished to protect their uniform texture; they’re cleaned and chemically prepped only.

Drying & Panel Prep
We blow out seams and pockets with air, then dry the wheels completely to prevent spotting. After drying, we wipe every coated surface with wax and grease removers (panel prep) to strip oils, residues, or old dressings so the coating can bond properly.

Light Polish (Gloss Only)
Gloss and clear-coated wheels may receive a light machine polish on the faces (and hand polish in tight areas) to refine clarity and remove faint haze or micro marring. This step is not performed on matte/satin finishes. Severe defects, curb rash, peeling clear coat, or corrosion are not corrected as part of this service.

Ceramic Coating Application
With the wheels prepped, we apply Opti-Coat Ultra Shine to the entire face, spokes, and inner barrel. High spots are leveled as the coating flashes so the finish cures smooth and consistent. We avoid tires, valves, and any rubber components.

Curing
After application, the wheels are set aside to cure per product guidelines. Keeping them clean, dry, and out of direct sun during this period helps the coating cross-link and harden. Once cured, we recommend avoiding harsh chemicals for about a week.
